Costa Navarino excellently organized the Messinia Pro-Am, its first International Golf Tournament, setting again Messinia at the centre of global interest. Despite the fact that Messinia Pro-Am tournament was organized for the first time, the golfers welcomed it with an impressive turnout, showing its potential to rank among the most important tournaments in Europe. The Westin Resort hosted a total of 27 teams, 27 top professional golf players and 81 amateur golfers arriving from 14 different countries in order to compete in the 1st Messinia Pro-Am Golf Tournament held at the Dunes Course and the Bay Course, the two awarded golf courses of Costa Navarino. The tournament took place under the sunny sky of Peloponnese allowing foreign golfers especially to enjoy the early spring weather while fully developing their skills in fairways.
All teams consisted of one professional and three amateur golf players competing all day through in two 18-hole golf courses. The high level of golfers and especially of those having participated in the competing part of the tournament, kept up the vivid interest of spectators in the game by enjoying constant twists in the daily winner ranking until the end of the competition round! Spectators enjoyed the excellent performance of the German journalist for the Golf Spielen magazine, Petra Himmel who managed the “Hole-in-one” since day 2 of the tournament and ranked among the top 6 golfers having achieved this rare feat at the Bay Course.

On behalf of the organizers, the President and CEO of TEMES S.A. developers of Costa Navarino, Achilles V. Constantakopoulos, in his welcome speech referred to the vision of his late father Captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos to render Greece a top golf destination and hoped for the Messinia Pro – Am Tournament to become one of the annual golf events at an International level.
